Wine media cadetship launches in SA

A wine media cadetship aimed at aspiring journalists with a thirst for specialising in the wine sector, has opened for application this week. The cadetship is run by Wine Communicators of Australia – a national organisation for wine industry professionals – and is sponsored by the State Government.

The ten-week program involves opportunities for participation in a range of practical experiences including media development workshops, media placements and mentorship. The 2017 cadetship program will support Adelaide / South Australia’s membership in the Great Wine Capitals Global Network by advancing positive promotion of the state’s wine community.

South Australia’s wine sector made exceptional gains in 2015-16 – generating $2.11 billion in revenue, up almost $330 million on the previous year – and the state’s visitor economy has reached a record $6.3 billion – with cellar doors contributing significantly to the visitor experience.

The South Australian cadetship will be awarded to one recipient who will have the opportunity to work with leading wine and media professionals. The program will take place between July and October 2017.
Applications are open to SA Wine Communicators Australia members aged between 18-35 years of age. Registrations opened on Monday 29 May 2017 and close Friday 30 June 2017.
