If you or someone you know is doing great things telling the Australian wine story, now is the time to make some noise. Entries have opened for WCA’s 2016 Wine Communicator Awards, which this year include seven categories. Entries close on Friday 15 September.
You will find detailed information and entry forms here.
“This is the fourth year we have run the awards in an expanded format covering everything from print to digital and they really are going from the strength to strength,” said WCA National Chair Angus Barnes.
“The standard and range of entries keeps rising and the introduction of the Best Educator award last year added a whole new dynamic. They are tough awards to win, and they really mean something to the winners.”
Entries are sought in the following categories, with the overall Wine Communicator of the Year selected from category winners.
Digital Wine Communicator of the Year
Sponsored by the drinks association
New Wine Writer of the Year
In partnership with Gourmet Traveller Wine magazine
Best Published Feature Articles or Wine Column
Sponsored by Pernod Ricard Winemakers
Best Wine Publication (Technical, Trade or Consumer)
Sponsored by Treasury Wine Estates
Best Wine Book (Technical, Trade or Consumer)
Sponsored by Calabria Family Wines
Best Wine Website or Wine App
Best Wine Educator
The winners will be announced at a special presentation night in Sydney on 8 November, which will be sponsored by Riedel Australia.
“As always we couldn’t do this without our sponsors,” Mr Barnes said. “They allow us to open up the awards to a wide cross section of communicators – from writers and publishers to graphic artists and digital content developers – and capture the best of what is happening in the industry today.
“Standards are high, the judging is rigorous and we are very proud of the reputation these awards have earned.”
