Wine Australia – Aussie Wine Month Promotion
Australia produces some of the world’s best wines and we’re encouraging sommeliers and restaurants to ensure Australian wines are front and centre throughout the month of May.
We are all invited to get behind Aussie Wine Month – the country’s biggest celebration of Australian wine, which runs from 1 to 31 May 2014. Let’s all support our great industry and all the events happening across Australia this month.
This is a fantastic opportunity for sommeliers to get their customers excited about the range of high quality Australian wines on their wine lists and menus. Sommeliers can get creative with their Australian wines-by-the-glass promotions and perhaps look at an interesting theme, featuring wines from different decades, vertical tastings of a particular wine or regional/varietal explorations.
Wine Australia are “calling on sommeliers across Australia to get behind our local wines and winemakers and come up with a creative Australian wines-by-the-glass promotion throughout the month of May, so diners can get a chance to taste some top local drops during Aussie Wine Month,” Mr Brasher said.
All sommeliers who enter the Australian-wine-by-the-glass promotion will be in the running to win a nine-day trip to experience some of Australia’s wine regions including Mt Benson, Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley, King Valley and Heathcote as part of the Sommelier Immersion Program (SIP) trip, which will be held in June.
Wine Australia’s Regional Director, Australia, Asia and Emerging Markets, Aaron Brasher said Aussie Wine Month was the perfect opportunity for sommeliers to get their customers excited about their Australian wine offerings.
“The winner will be judged on creativity, a clear focus on Australian wine, their ability to promote their Australian wines-by-the-glass offering through social media and other networks and the thought behind the selection.”
