Wine Communicators of Australia (WCA) will announce the new 2014 Legend of the Vine Award at the WCA Sydney Royal Wine Show Trophy Winners Lunch on Friday, February 14.
The WCA Legend of the Vine Award recognises a member of the wine industry who has made an outstanding and lasting contribution to the wine business and industry at large, as well as display a strong affinity for the objectives of WCA.
WCA Chair Angie Bradbury said WCA wanted to create an Award that acknowledges the passion, drive and leadership, particularly in communication, of an Australian wine identity.
“The inaugural winner of this Award will be no stranger to many of us. They will have sat on committees, fronted lunches and wine shows, acted as spokesperson, mentored many and, in doing so, earned the respect of their peers,” Ms Bradbury said.
“WCA’s maxim is ‘Engage, Connect, Learn, Inspire’. This industry has plenty to be inspired about and that includes the number of individuals who lead by example and add their own skilled and distinctive voice to the Australian wine story.”
The 2014 “WCA Legend of the Vine Award” is nominated by the WCA Board and State Chapters, with the winner chosen by the Wine Communicators of Australia Board.
The winner of the Award will receive life-time membership to WCA as part of the Award, joining a highly-respected list of names, which includes Phil Laffer, James Halliday, Chris Anstee and Lyndey Milan.
The inaugural Award Winner will be announced at the WCA Sydney Royal Wine Show Trophy Winners Lunch, to be held on Friday, February 14 at the Four Seasons Hotel, George St, Sydney.
