Spain Meets Australia: Same Grape, Different World
28 May @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm AEST
Join us for an unmissable exploration of Spain’s iconic grape varieties – through a uniquely Australian lens.
Hosted by Australia’s first and only Spanish Wine Educator certified by ICEX, Markus Patz, this masterclass brings together wine industry professionals, enthusiasts, and the simply curious for an evening of discovery, comparison, and storytelling.
What happens when the same grape travels across continents? How does Tempranillo express itself in Rioja versus Australia? What makes Garnacha from Spain so different to its New World counterparts? And where do climate, culture, and winemaking philosophy shape what’s in your glass? Through a curated tasting of Spanish and Australian wines, Markus will guide you through the nuances of terroir, tradition, and transformation, offering both insight and entertainment in his signature engaging style.
Whether you work in the wine industry or simply love a great glass with a great story, this is your chance to deepen your understanding of Spain’s most important varieties and their global expressions.
Expect insight. Expect flavour. Expect a few surprises.
This is more than a tasting – it’s a journey between two worlds, connected by the vine.
Seats are limited. Ticket includes a glass of Cava on arrival, 10 wines on tasting (in 5 flights of 2 wines), a generous grazing platter to share at each table, and a handout to take home.
