Wine Communicators of Australia (WCA) has today announced the finalists in the 10 categories of the 2019 Wine Communicator Awards, including a new award category: Best Wine Student. Sixteen experienced and respected wine industry professionals have judged the entries in the award categories, with three panels each assessing two or three categories each. The New Wine Writer of the Year Award is judged independently by Gourmet Traveller WINE judging panel.

Pam Dunsford grew up in an era where young women did not hold winemaking positions.  Having studied a degree in bio- Royal Adelaide Wine ShowWayville, South AustraliaPhoto: John Krüger chemistry and horticulture from the University of Adelaide, it was during this time she became interested in wine.  In 1972, Pam became the first female to be accepted to Roseworthy College to study Oenolgy.
