Wine Australia Analyst Sandy Hathaway will share key insights from the cellar door and direct-to-consumer (DTC) survey report, including best practice for DTC sales. Wine Australia’s GM Export and Regional Wine Support Package Brett Murphy will update listeners on the 2019 schedule for Wine Australia’s practical and hands-on skills development programs, Growing Wine Exports and Growing Wine Tourism. Manager – Stakeholder Engagement Ali Lockwood will then provide an update on Wine Australia’s education and consumer engagement activities – including the launch of the free and globally-accessible Australian Wine Discovered education program and new consumer website.

Ali is responsible for engagement strategies, sponsorship programs and developing relationships with government agencies and State and regional wine associations. She was previously Regional Manager – Emerging Markets, representing Australian wine across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Russia and Eastern Europe, and established Wine Australia’s Shanghai office in 2008. Ali’s 20-year career in wine began studying Wine Marketing at Roseworthy College, and working in wineries across Australia, followed by a five-year stint in a number of global and domestic roles with (now) Accolade Wines.

Sandy Hathaway – Wine Australia Analyst

Sandy is an analyst in the Market Insights team at Wine Australia. She is responsible for the annual national vintage survey, production sales and inventory survey and direct-to-consumer survey and has particular responsibility for domestic market insights. She has been involved in the Australian wine sector for over 20 years in a number of roles and has been working at Wine Australia since 2016.

Brett Murphy – General Manager, Export and Regional Wine Support Package

Brett joined Wine Australia in 2017 and is responsible for managing the delivery of the $50 million Export and Regional Wine Support Package. Brett’s area of expertise is portfolio, program and project management. Brett spent 13 years in the Australian energy industry prior to joining the wine sector, working for APA Group and Electra Net. His roles involved managing the governance and delivery teams for a range of significant infrastructure, business transformation and IT programs.
