Wine Communicators of Australia (WCA) is delighted to announce the interim appointment of Angela Gosden and Katie Spain to its Board of Directors. 

Angela Gosden brings extensive financial and management expertise to the WCA Board. As a Certified Practicing Accountant and experienced General Manager, Angela has led prominent wine businesses including Cullen Wines and Clairault Streicker Wines in WA and Pooley Wines in Tasmania, overseeing operations, governance and strategic growth. Her career spans senior accounting, audit and leadership roles, complemented by her qualification as a Director Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Katie Spain is an award-winning journalist and author whose work spans Good Food, Australia’s Wine Business Magazine (WBM), Gourmet Traveller, Broadsheet, Selector Magazine, and Halliday Magazine.  She was named WCA Wine Communicator of the Year in 2021 and is a recipient of multiple wine communication awards and brings her passion for storytelling and willingness to support emerging communicators with her deep industry knowledge and excellent palate.

WCA’s National Chair, Lynda Schenk, commented “The addition of Katie Spain and Angela Gosden will strengthen our already talented and industrious volunteer WCA Board. As a highly respected writer, Katie’s representation reflects WCA’s origins in the historic Wine Press Clubs and ensures that the voice of wine writers remain embedded in our mission.  Meanwhile Angela’s deep knowledge of financial reporting, compliance and governance ensures WCA maintains strong financial stewardship. Both appointments reinforce WCA’s dedication to celebrate and support excellence in wine communication across Australia.”

Both new members will be interim directors until the appointments are ratified at WCA’s 2026 Annual General Meeting in November.
