Wine Communicators of Australia (WCA) is seeking expressions of interest for a Board Director position from a passionate and experienced professional who is currently employed by an Australian wine company.
This voluntary role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the Australian wine sector by helping shape the strategic direction of WCA – the peak body for professionals who share information, stories, and insights about wine.
About the Role
We are currently seeking to appoint a Board Director who brings strong financial acumen and industry representation from within the wine sector. This role has been identified through our Board Skills Matrix as part of our commitment to a balanced and diverse governance structure.
This is a strategic appointment to strengthen WCA’s financial literacy and winery representation at the Board level. This appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to strong governance capability and ensuring balanced representation across the breadth of the Australian wine sector, including the important perspectives of finance professionals working within wine businesses.
We are Looking For
- An individual currently employed in an Australian wine company (any size or style)
- A person with accounting qualifications (e.g., desirable CA, CPA or equivalent)
- A professional in a senior financial or commercial leadership role, such as CFO, Finance Manager, General Manager, or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and strategic planning
- A commitment to WCA’s purpose of connecting, informing, and inspiring wine professionals across the sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in WCA Board meetings (approx. 10-12 per year, virtual or hybrid format) (Approx 1 per month)
- Contribute to strategic discussions, particularly in relation to financial oversight and governance
- Support the mission and vision of WCA in driving communication excellence in the wine sector
- Help ensure long-term sustainability and relevance of WCA to its members and partners.
