Entries open today for Wine Communicator of Australia (WCA)’s prestigious annual Wine Communicator Awards, which recognises outstanding contribution to, and excellence in, wine communication in all its forms.

WCA Executive Chair, Angus Barnes said,

‘I am delighted to announce the 2023 Wine Communicator Awards open for entries. The awards continue to grow and to celebrate the diverse contributions made to the wine industry across a number of categories and channels. As wine communication becomes broader and in some ways more challenging, it is increasingly important to recognise the story telling talents across Australia. We encourage you to enter and to tell us your stories.”

Entries are sought across the following categories.

  • Best Wine Marketing Commmunications Campaign (Individual or Team)
  • Best Wine Blog or Podcast
  • Best Published Feature Article or Wine Column
  • Best Wine Serial Publication
  • Best New Wine Book
  • Best Wine Website or App
  • Best Wine-themed Event
  • Best Wine Communicator – Cellar Door (Individual or Team)
  • Best Wine Educator
  • Best Wine Student

In each Award category, entries are reviewed and judged by a panel of industry professionals from which a short list of finalists is determined. A winner is then chosen in consultation with WCA Board. The overall Wine Communicator of the Year is then chosen from the pool of 10 category winners.

The 2022 Wine Communicator of the Year recipient, Oliver’s Taranga, recently reflected on last years win. Corinna said on behalf of the team, “We were thrilled to have our incredible cellar door team recognised for the fabulous work that they do at the forefront of wine communication, face-to-face with the guests that visit our cellar door and many like ours all around the Australia, day in day out. The wine, region and people stories they share at the cellar door and the experience they provide stays in the hearts and minds of our guests long after they leave the venue.”

Entries close on Friday 1 September 2023. Finalists will be announced on Friday 13 October, and winners will be announced on Tuesday 14 November at an Awards Ceremony in Sydney.
