Kathleen is half of a wine making partnership bringing italian varietals and styles into the conservative Mornington Peninsula. Along the way Quealy Winemakers have been responsible for pioneering pinot gris/grigio, friulano, various moscato styles.

Their business style has been to invest in the vineyards and their people translating to an eclectic range of inspirational wines. These wines are sold in markets across Australia and Asia. Kathleen is at the helm of Quealy winemakers cellar door. Their cellar door a stand out experience set amidst the winery with this exciting array of wines available to taste with a rustique hospitality.

Kathleen graduated as a winemaker in the 80s from Wagga Wagga. It was a great era of male domination that Kathleen and other women enjoyed disrupting and challenging the status quo.

The other partnership spanning decades is Quealy Winemakers and designer Dr Ken Cato he has created all of their marvelous labels that announce the exciting wine inside. Kathleen credits the natural attributes of the Mornington Peninsula for their winemaking success. It has given Kevin and Kathleen the opportunity to make progressive wine whose natural attributes rely on nurturing and understanding rather than irrigation and machinery. Their vineyard achieved organic status for vintage 2019.
