Sponsored by WINE COMMUNICATORS OF AUSTRALIA

Best Wine Education Provider

This award category recognises organisations or individuals who excel in providing exceptional wine education services. This could include wine schools, educational programs, sommelier certification courses, online platforms, or any other avenue through which wine knowledge and appreciation shared in a professional sitting.

Entry criteria:

  1. Open to people living and working in Australia who work in or in conjunction with the wine industry and who have undertaken an initiative that aims to lift trade or consumer education and training in Australian wines and their stories.
  2. Entries must include activities that took place in the English language between 1 July 2024 and 31 July 2025.

Entry Fee:

An entry fee of $55 inc GST applies to every award nomination submission for this category.

Judging criteria:

The judges will consider the following with reference to each nomination:

  1. Originality – how much of the material was created or substantively adapted by the educator.
  2. Technical skill of the educator(s) – how the submitted education pieces/presentations are designed and tailored to the audience
  3. Demonstrated wine knowledge – the educator will have demonstrated strong wine knowledge sufficient to give them credibility with their audience as an expert. However the focus for this award is on the ability to impart that knowledge to others, not on the depth of the knowledge of the individual educator in their own right.
  4. Relevance of the educational content to the audience
  5. Professional achievements of the educator or education provider
  6. A commitment to developing ongoing excellence in wine communication will be considered favourably. This includes membership to Wine Communicators of Australia.

Prize:

The winner will receive: one year’s membership to WCA valued at $190 (or 1 free renewal for an existing member), a category trophy, and exclusive WCA 2025 award-winner print and web graphics to use in personal marketing and communications.
