Universally known as ‘The Wine Man”’ Peter Bourne has been involved in the Australian wine industry for 40 years – initially as a fine wine merchant and more recently as a full-time industry consultant. Peter’s principal focus is on wine education – presenting a wide variety of wine appreciation courses and specialised wine tastings. Peter hosts numerous trade and consumer events along with high-end corporate wine evenings.

Peter’s reputation as one of Australia’s leading wine educators was cemented by winning the 2010 Wine Communicator of the Year – the prestigious award presented by his wine industry peers at Wine Communicators of Australia. Peter is a founding contributor to Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine and a member of the GTWINE tasting panel with several articles published in each issue. Peter writes the wine column for the QANTAS in-flight magazine, The Qantas Magazine. He is also a member of the judging panel for Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine’s Winemaker of the Year Awards and Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards. Additionally Peter sits on the selection panel for the biennial Vin de Champagne Awards.

Peter has created many winelists with recent highlights the Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa winelist and revamping the list for Rick Stein at Bannisters. Other specialist lists include Leura Garage, Silk’s Brasserie and the Burrawang General Store. Peter’s wide knowledge and long experience position him to tailor-make a winelist to suit the needs of management and its potential customers. Staff training is an especially important part of Peter’s services.
